Stalker is pretty decent for the time being, but Crysis is just going to shit on it. http://youtube.com/watch?v=3nzMdPwO2Qw&mode=related&search=

Oh wow, that is going to shit all over it, whats the release date on Crysis?

I'm rather disappointed with the initial Stalker reviews, they say the game is worth buying, but they only rate it at 80-85%, I was hoping it would become a classic ala Deus Ex or Half Life in the 95-98% range.

Right now its scheduled for Q3, some sites have it listed coming out in September, which isn't too bad when you consider UT3 should probably be coming out around July and Quake Wars should be out at the start of June, so it's not too bad and both of those should be solid enough to hold FPS' fans off.

http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=2509 has some more sick videos if you were interested.

And yeah I was hoping Stalker would get a higher rating also, considering how long it's pretty much been in production. I don't know anyone who bought it yet but I mean IGN gave it a pretty so-so review but the guy did say it was kinda a must buy. Eh, I want to buy it but I probably will try GRAW instead.

Fake Edit: O shi, crysis beta??? This article just came out today.
Here's a true translation of the pcgames.de article for you all...

Cevat Yerli, CEO of the Crysis-makers Crytek, told our colleagues of PC Games Hardware some interesting informations about the download that thousands of players are waiting for. According to him there will be an open beta test prior to the release, which anyone can apply for. Who applies first will get them, in total there will be 20,000 beta keys.

Around the release date there will be two demos. One Singleplayer and one Multiplayer demo. We are anxious to know if the Delta difficulty level will be available. In this difficulty level only a few bullets will be deadly and there will be no HUD.

Official Arash STALKER review:

Fucking terrible, don't bother.

While the game, overall, has a decent game design, while the game, overall, had good AI, and while the game, overall, has effort put into it, the number of hugely fucking annoying factors is enough to make you want to format your hard drive after installing it.

Lets start:

The game is huge, 20 by 20 kilometers (13x13mi justabout), and you travel all of it on foot. In the game you have an inventory, and it has size restrictions and weight restrictions. Whenever you find weapons from enemies that you kill, you can sell it at a trader. Problem? There's only a couple traders in the game. This means you need to trek huge fucking long distances back to traders to make a couple credits, or, just throw away everything useful you find since you've got enough shit of your own to carry already.

Every NPC will trade with you, but you can only sell them food / bandages. Only "Traders" will buy/sell weapons and ammo, so when your inventory is full with guns, either drop it all off nowhere and lose it, or walk all the way to a trader, which can take 15 to 20 minutes of walking.

Finish a mission? Congrats. Go back to the NPC who gave it to you to get your reward. Don't turn it back in in time? You fail the mission, despite killing / retrieving whatever you needed to. Why is this a problem? You just got a mission in Zone 1, you go to Zone 2 (10 minutes of travel + distractions), do other missions, Zone 3, do other missions, finish your mission in Zone 4, and now you get to walk back to Zone 1. Thats 30 minutes of your personal, real life, time, that you could be spending doing other shit than pushing an NPC around a fucking wasteland.

Realistic? No just fucking boring. This game needs "Flightpaths." This game needs more "Traders." This game needs missions to be accomplished from distance. The amount of travel in this game is so mindnumbing and annoying that often times I will complete a mission, and then refuse to turn it in because its not worth the fucking hassle.

Enemy AI? Great. So great that they are never bothered by foliage and most issues of light/darkness while its a huge pain in the ass for you. Enemy is shooting you from the bushes? Aim your crosshair over the bushes until it turns red to signify you're targeting something. Brilliant.

Friendly AI? Fucking terrible. So you run in with a team to take out a military complex. You stand at the wall, peak around it to shoot without opening yourself up to too much fire. Your AI teammate decides to do the same, sticks his head out from the same spot, pushing you in the process, right in the open, ruining your aim, and getting you instantly killed. Fucking awesome.

Plot? Boring. Find some dude called Strelok. Missions involve going from one place to talk to one guy about Strelok, to the next, to the next. Its a series of really repetitive tasks to find out more and more info about this one guy in really small pieces. Sounds like a good puzzle right? Wrong. The mission is so fucking boring you don't give a shit for solving the puzzle.

Inventory: Ammo weighs stuff. Get too much ammo, and your inventory is full. Imagine the fun of throwing away ammo so you don't reach 50 pounds. Go over 50 pounds, and you fatigue really quickly from running too much, forcing you to stand still (really awesome for a game that requires so much fucking travel). Reach 60 pounds, you cna't move at all, making you instantly stuck wherever you're standing. So imagine, you're in a firefight, you're picking up stuff as you go along. BAM. You hit 60 pounds, you cna't move, and your enemies don't give a fuck. You need to open your inventory, find the shit you can throw away, throw away enough to get under 60 pounds, close inventory, and start firing back. In the meantime, the game doesn't pause, and the enemies don't care.

This game is fucking retarded and GSC can suck a big one.

Wow, I've been so out of the loop for PC games, Crysis looks sick... but you'll need Vista to run it wont you?

But I'm still hopelessly waiting for Episode 2 to come out... and forget about an Episode 3.

As of right now its supposed to come out for both XP/Vista, but it needs DX10 so who knows if XP is going to support that. Also they are coming out with both 32 and 64 bit versions so it should be pretty retarded.

All I know is this game is gonna make computers cry at full settings.
